What is a Powwow?

A modern day Powwow is a gathering of Native American people, and is a social event. It can be a special time of a renewal of old friendships and a beginning for new ones. For those who follow the Powwow circuit, it is a contemporary statement of their Indian Heritage. Just as the Drum of the Powwow represents the Heart of the Earth and its beat, the Powwow expresses the Soul and Spirit of the Original Peoples of this land. It represents a continuance of the lives from all of our ancestors to our hearts and beyond to the lives which we begin.

It is also a time for unity of ALL people as we honor our Ancestors.
