The wildly-popular Family Great Adventure Series is all about Discovery and Entertainment at the Virginia Beach oceanfront. On select nights from June through August, families can take part in interactive adventures themed to popular movies. The adventure might lead you to various sites along the boardwalk or beach to unravel a mystery. Sometimes the adventure involves games and contests right on the beach. Dress up as your favorite character from the movies, compete for one of our trophies, and then settle into the sand for a family-friendly movie presented on a giant inflatable screen

The sounds of rock, jazz, country, R&B, and more flood the Virginia Beach oceanfront for three sun-filled days over Labor Day Weekend at the American Music Festival. The largest outdoor music event on the East Coast, the American Music Festival brings together national, regional, and local acts to play on a stage on the beach at 5th Street, as well as stages in all the parks along the boardwalk. With just about every music genre, there’s “something for everyone.”
The FunkFest Beach Party is the heart and soul of this weekend event, featuring music generated over the years by influential legends such as James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone, George Clinton, and The Ohio Players. Funk is an American musical style that originated in the mid-to late-1960’s when African-American musicians blended soul music, soulful jazz, and R&B into a rhythmic, danceable new form of music. Funk brings a strong rhythmic groove of electric bass and drums to the foreground.
Calling all artists and "wanna-be" artists! Artists of all ages and skill levels will stake their 4'x4' space right on the Virginia Beach boardwalk! Artist registration takes place on the boardwalk at 17th Street, and chalk art is displayed for two blocks. Advance registration for the Chalk the Walk is not required and there is no fee to participate, but we do ask that artists bring their own chalk.
