Elvis® will indeed “be everywhere” when one of the wackiest and most entertaining events of the year makes its return to the Virginia Beach oceanfront for the 14th big year! This year’s Viva Elvis® and the Legends of Rock & Roll is definitely the biggest and best yet. Join us for some one-of-a-kind oceanfront events and be entertained by Elvis® tribute artists from Georgia to right here in Hampton Roads!
Join in the fun at “Are You Smarter than an Elvis?” (our own version of the popular TV game show “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader”), compete in the Elvis® Karaoke Contest, thrill to the Skydiving Kings as they parachute onto the beach at 24th Street, and express your artistic side at the Elvis® Chalk the Walk Contest. It’s a fun-filled weekend of music and more that’ll have you proclaiming “It’s good to be the King!”
At Viva Elvis® and the Legends of Rock & Roll it’s also all about the music! Headliner Harold Schulz from Woodstock, Georgia joins local entertainers Mike Ratcliffe, Rick Spruill, Ron Parker, Ronnie Sabol, Sterling Riggs, Joe Searles, Tim Beasley, Jim Smith, Charlie Dunn, and Jeff Barnes to present a rollicking weekend of Elvis® tunes. And – back by popular demand – all the way from Canada…the ALL-FEMALE Elvis® group, the Graceliners!
Harold Schulz, performing Saturday, June 21, from 8:30pm-10:30pm at the 24th Street stage, is billed as a young Elvis® artist and look alike. Schulz recently appeared on CNN Headline News and NBC-TV’s hit show “America’s Got Talent.” Schulz represents the “young” Elvis®, complete with vintage instruments like Scotty Moore’s Gibson Hollow Body Electric Guitar to DJ Fontana’s 1958 White Gretch drum set. Schulz’s drummer Steve Cohen has played with Bob Dylan, The Loving Spoonful, and many great jazz and blues performers all over the world. Guitarist Randy LeRoque has played with B.B. King, The Drifters, and The Platters, among others. Harold Schulz’s sound is genuine and unique. He’s performed at large corporate functions, casinos, and at Graceland in Memphis.
Look to the skies on Saturday at 4:30pm for the Skydiving Kings! Back by popular demand, this team of Elvis® skydivers jumps with a giant American flag, makes a spectacular landing right on the beach at 24th Street, signs autographs, and poses for photos afterward! Spectators line the boardwalk or watch from the beach around the landing sight.
