A Tribute to Rock & Roll!
Sandstock
Friday-Sunday, June 24-26, 2011
Virginia Beach Oceanfront
17th, 24th, 31st Street Parks

June 12, 2011

Virginia Beach, Virginia – It all started in Bethel, New York 40 years ago.  It was August 15-17, 1969 and the largest rock concert ever held to that time made its debut in a rural pasture and resulted in the one of the worst traffic jams in the history of the country.  The Woodstock Music and Art Fair drew more than 450,000 people.  One attendee claimed “what we had there was a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence.  We made love, made money, and made a little history.”

Sandstock, a Beach-inspired variation on “Woodstock” – is a Tribute to Rock & Roll!  National and regional tribute artists who cover performers from Elton John to Van Halen to Aerosmith will crank out hit after hit on multiple stages at the Virginia Beach oceanfront.  Even “The King” himself gets in on the act with special tribute shows by Jim Smith and Sterling Riggs at 31st Street Park on Friday night!

Bring your own beach chair to 20th Street for a laser show Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25!  “Laser Hits” will play at 9:00pm and “Laser Floyd” (Pink Floyd laser show) at 9:45pm each night.

2U - The U2 Tribute Band will perform Sunday, June 26, from 9:00pm-11:00pm at 24th Street Park.  Performing in THE PREMIER U2 TRIBUTE show is a full time occupation for all of 2U's band members. U2 Music from Boy, October, War, The Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree, Rattle and Hum, Achtung Baby, Zooropa, Pop, All That You Can't Leave Behind, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, and their latest release "No Line On The Horizon"  is duplicated live as only U2 impersonators can. U2 songs, from "Pride" to "Vertigo", "With or Without You" to "New Year’s Day", "One" to "Sunday Bloody Sunday", "Elevation" to "Miracle Drug", "Out of Control" to "Get On Your Boots" are faithfully recreated live. Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. IMPERSONATORS make up this U2 Tribute Band.

All concerts are free and open to the public.
