Hardee’s Latin Fest
Presented by Selecta1050AM
Friday-Saturday, June 10-11, 2011
On the beach at 24th Street
Virginia Beach Oceanfront

May 31, 2011

Virginia Beach, Virginia – For two days, Virginia Beach celebrates the sights and sounds of the Latin experience. Based on a popular Latin festival in Miami, the Virginia Beach version retains the key ingredients of good food, family participation, and first-rate Latin music.

National performers electrify the diverse audience with high-energy tunes that move the crowd to dance under the stars. Local and regional Latin acts (each with their own loyal fan base) take the stage and unite festival-goers with the rhythms of Salsa, Merengue, and Jazz.

Raul Acosta y Oro Solido will headline the concerts on Friday, June 10, from 9:30pm-11:00pm.  Oro Solido was founded by Raul Acosta, better known in the music industry as “The President of Merengue.”  With hits like “Ta Cache,” “La Tanguita Roja,” “Maria se Fue,” “El Baile del Beeper,” “Una Nalgadita,” “La Morena,” among others, Oro Solido has positioned itself as one of the biggest Latin music groups in the world.  Oro Solido has surpassed various barriers when it comes to performing in the Anglo media and having their music played on English-speaking radio stations.

Headlining Saturday night’s concerts is the Larry Harlow Orchestra.  Larry Harlow is a true living legend of Afro-Cuban music.  Born in Brooklyn, New York, his early influences were his father Buddy, who was a professional bass player and his mother Rose, who sang opera.  Harlow’s classic CD entitled “Larry Harlow’s Latin Legends Band” featured a who’s-who of contemporary Latin musicians.  In 2008 Larry Harlow received the Trustees award Grammy for his creative 40-plus years in the recording business.  The Larry Harlow Orchestra will perform from 9:30pm-11:00pm on Saturday, June 11.

Additional activities include the Zumba fitness 3-hour marathon on Saturday, June 11, beginning at 8:30am.  Zumba fitness is the Latin-inspired, easy-to-follow calorie-burning party!  Meet some of the area’s best instructors.  Participate for one hour or all three!  Door prizes and awards for most Zumba spirit will be featured.

The Hardee’s Latin Fest is a free event.
