Virginia Beach, Virginia – Beach Music Weekend blends the best of the “oldies” with dancing under the stars in a jam-packed blast to the past!  Settle into the sand as the top Beach Music bands from up and down the East Coast descend on the Virginia Beach oceanfront in a nostalgic salute to the “good old days” of cool cars and hot tunes.

A three-day series of free concerts is presented on a stage built right on the beach at 30th Street.  Evening shows on Friday give way to a full day of entertainment on Saturday and more daytime concerts on Sunday.

Beach Music Weekend is the winner of the 2011 Industry Appreciation Award ("CAMMY") from the Carolina Beach Music Association.

All performances on the beach are free to the public.

The festival atmosphere is enhanced with beer and food served in tents on the sand alongside a sea of beach chairs and dancing couples!  Boardwalk sponsors and vendors overlook the beach, luring visitors from the boardwalk into the fun of Beach Music Weekend!  A giant 20-foot inflatable jukebox on the beach towers over the fun as festival-goers kick off their shoes and dance their cares away on the sands of Virginia Beach!

As the ambassador of Beach Music, Craig Woolard has enjoyed a stellar career as the front man of one of Carolina’s premiere bands, the Embers. After 28 years with his former group, Woolard has taken on a new persona in what is claimed to be the South’s number one Beach Music, R&B, Top 40, Motown, 70’s & 80’s, and Rock & Roll Party Band.  Craig Woolard is The Real Thing!  The Craig Woolard Band wows their audience with one of the most diverse repertoires and original crowd participation shows in the industry. It is no wonder they have become one of the most highly recommended and sought after bands for private and corporate events, concerts, and festivals in the southeastern United States.  The Craig Woolard Band will perform Friday, May 18, from 7:30pm-10:30pm.

From Raleigh, North Carolina, The Embers will be featured Saturday from 7:45pm-10:30pm.  To say "The Embers play Beach Music" is an understatement. After eighteen albums and numerous single releases, The Embers are one of the most popular and active groups in the country. The Embers boast an average of two hundred fifty dates per year all ranging from Toronto to Florida and westward to California, Hawaii and most recently South Korea.

Appearing on Sunday from 3:30pm-6:00pm will be the Band of Oz.  In the mid-sixties the group known as Band of Oz had its humble beginnings in eastern North Carolina (Grifton).  The group’s second album contained a big hit for them: “Over the Rainbow.”  The album “One More Step” was completed and released on Metro Records.  It was one of first regional projects released on CD.  After the release of "One More Step” the group continued performing 200 to 300 shows per year.  In March 2005, Band of Oz owners Keith Houston and David Hicks decided to bring a new, youthful sound to the band
