The Elvis® 500 Recliner Race is a take-off on the popular “hospital bed” races held around the country. But instead of four people pushing a hospital bed with a costumed rider on board, the “race vehicle” is a recliner or chair on wheels with Elvis® riding high as the star of the show!

On-site registration begins promptly at 8:30am on the boardwalk at 16th Street.

There is no registration fee.

The race will be run in “heats.” The number of heats run will be determined by the total number of entries.

Four recliners will race per heat.

The following prizes will be awarded:

•3rd Place
•Best Costumes
•Best Decorated Entry
•Most Team Spirit
•1st Place, Commercial

The following winners will be asked to participate in the Elvis Street Parade, to be held at Noon Saturday morning, June 24:

Official rules and regulations:

(1) Recliners and chairs on wheels are allowed.
(2) NO loveseats or sofas may be entered.
(3) The race promoters have the final decision over what entries are allowable.
(4) One person MUST ride on the recliner or chair IN AN ELVIS® COSTUME.
(5) Each team is allowed to use a MAXIMUM of 4 PEOPLE to push the recliner in the race.
(6) The race course will consist of racing along the boardwalk from 16th to 17th Street, negotiating a tight turn at 17th Street, and racing BACK to the starting line position.
(7) Participants must NOT purposefully interfere with another race vehicle. Doing so will result in disqualification.
(8) Teams from retail shops, hotels, restaurants, and other businesses and organizations may enter. Commercial entries may include signage!
(9) The decisions of the race officials are final!
(10) All team members must sign a liability waiver form provided by Beachevents.
