Please note that the Holiday Parade @ the Beach is planned and executed by a private group of citizens with support from the City of Virginia Beach.
THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES HAVE BEEN ADOPTED BY THE REVIEW COMMITTEE FOR 2007 PARADE APPLICANTS:
- Car clubs must decorate their vehicles. Clubs that have not decorated in the past will not be admitted. A limited number of car clubs will be accepted.
- Dog units must be on a float. A float is defined as a wagon at least 8 feet long that is pulled by a vehicle. A truck is not a float.
- Individual Boy Scout and Girl Scout units will be considered as long they include a float. A float is defined as a wagon at least 8 feet long that is pulled by a vehicle. A truck is not a float. Walking units that do not include a float will not be considered.
- "Beauty Queen" entries will only be considered if they ride on a float which they provide. A float is defined as a wagon at least 8 feet long that is pulled by a vehicle. Neither a truck nor a car constitutes a float. There must be signage on the float.
The Holiday Parade @ the Beach Committee is now accepting applications for the 2007 parade to be held Saturday, December 1, at 5:30pm at the Virginia Beach oceanfront.
Please note that the submission of an application DOES NOT GUARANTEE ACCEPTANCE INTO THE HOLIDAY PARADE @ THE BEACH. Every effort is made to produce an entertaining and fast-paced parade. Once again, we want the parade to fit into an hour time frame.
The parade proceeds North on Atlantic Avenue from 15th Street to 25th Street. The Holiday Parade @ the Beach, always attended by thousands of spectators, is the perfect way to kick-off the holiday season!
The rain date for the parade is Sunday, December 2. If the parade is rescheduled for the next day, EVERY POSSIBLE EFFORT SHOULD BE MADE FOR ALL UNITS TO PARTICIPATE on the rain date.
THE DEADLINE FOR APPLYING FOR THE HOLIDAY PARADE @ THE BEACH IS NOVEMBER 12, 2007. Any applications submitted after that date will be considered if openings remain. ALL APPLICANTS WILL BE NOTIFIED BY MAIL BY NOVEMBER 16 REGARDING THE COMMITTEE’S DECISION ABOUT THEIR ENTRIES. At that time, should the application be accepted, final parade details, including line-up information, will be included. Rest assured that each application will be given full review and consideration by the selection committee.
IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT EACH AND EVERY ENTRY BE HOLIDAY THEMED. Potential units that cannot demonstrate how they will interpret a holiday theme will not be considered for the parade.

This application indicates your desire to participate in the Holiday Parade @ the Beach. Submitting an application DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOUR ACCEPTANCE into the parade. We have limited the number of units in each category to a pre-determined number. Please be sure that your application is complete. Applications will be reviewed and you will be notified by mail as to whether or not your entry has been accepted for participation.
Units that are accepted must be available for parade line-up by 4:30pm the day of the parade.
