Virginia Beach boardwalk from 17th to 31st Streets
"Virginia Beach 2007" is our City's celebration of the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first permanent English settlers in the New World. Did you know that before there was a Jamestown the first settlers landed in what is now Virginia Beach? After a long and difficult voyage across the ocean, settlers made landfall at Cape Henry, encountered Native Americans, observed local natural life, and held a special service to give thanks for their safe passage. Virginia Beach 2007 will celebrate the 400th anniversary of this occasion with a variety of commemorative activities. Among these is the Boardwalk Historyfest. At this event, there will be numerous historical displays along the boardwalk and entertainment in oceanfront parks.

"Everyone has a history." That's the slogan and the theme of the Boardwalk Historyfest. As the communities of Hampton Roads prepare to highlight the landing of the English
